Okay…

So tomorrow is my school’s talent show, which my brother is performing in. He was planning to play (guitar) and sing “Karma Police” with an accompaniment from another girl. So apparently despite the fact that this is her boyfriend’s ABSOLUTE FAVORITE Radiohead song, she doesn’t know the lyrics nor does she care to learn them. So who is the only person my brother knows that actually knows the lyrics well enough to sing them?

Did I mention I’m tone deaf?! I think I forgot that part. And this is in front of my entire school, and I have all but one day to practice one of Radiohead’s most beloved songs?!

I’m sorry Mr. Yorke, I will sing but I don’t think I can bring justice to your beautiful song. But I will try…

Charles Bukowski - Cause and Effect
For my friend

This guy is probably the most straightforward in approach that a poet can be without boring his audience and while still being considered poetry. Two impossible things, on the bucket list.

I know a girl

with milk-white skin

and pain in her eyes

and sorrow in her soul

and regret in the fibres of her being.

I know a girl

with a shattered smile

and melancholy laughter on her lips

and scars on her soft wrists

and doubt on her flawless brow.

I know a girl

who is ‘okay’

and ‘fine’

and ‘lovely’

when asked.

I know a girl who is broken.

I know a girl I want to fix.

Amazing.

Amazing.

And true love waits
in haunted attics,
and true love lives
on lollipops and crisps.

I’m not living, I’m just killing time.
